Medication List (UK)

There are many different medications available in the UK for the treatment of Epilepsy. Your specialist will choose the one or ones which suit you and your situation best.

FIRST LINE MEDICATION THERAPIES (UK)

These medications are classed to be first line as they are most effective in most people and have caused less side effects in all. There can be and may still be many side effects but these are more suited to most people.

Drs start with these medications as per the NICE guidance on treatment of Epilepsy. If these do not work they move on to trying second line drug therapies.

SECOND LINE MEDICATION THERAPIES (UK)

These medications are classed to be second line as they are used when first line therapies either do not work or more medication is needed on top of a first line treatment. They may have more side effects but these are always weighed up by your Dr and your condition.
